Oceanic Trenches are the deepest parts of the ocean, formed by tectonic plate movement. Depths reach extreme levels with crushing pressure and total darkness. The seafloor is narrow and steep. Life is scarce but remarkably adapted to these conditions. Few ecosystems are as isolated as this. This biome represents the ultimate frontier of the deep sea.
